Things to Do near Arcadian Getaways

Most of our guests truly get away to Arcadian Getaways and never leave their cottage, but if you’re getting cabin fever or want to explore the Oklahoma City area, check out the following attractions & activities:

Guthrie – 5 miles
Starting as a railroad stop along the AT&SF Railroad, Guthrie became a town of 10,000 in one day on April 22, 1889, the day of the Oklahoma Land Run.   It was named the state capital when Oklahoma became the 46th state of the United States.  Later, the capital moved to Oklahoma City, but Guthrie has retained all of its historic charm.
Guthrie is home to many museums, art and antique shopping, and homey restaurants.   You won’t see a lot of chain restaurants, but local flavors like Stacy’s and Senor’ Lopez.  Summer’s in Guthrie, include street festivals and one of the last remaining Drive-in theatres, The Beacon!                                                                                              Visit www.GuthrieOk.com for lots of ideas about exploring Guthrie.

Edmond – 5 miles
Edmond is the “Crown Jewel” of Oklahoma with its beautiful public art, championship golf, fine dining and nostalgic shopping areas. Edmond is the home of the University of Central Oklahoma as well as Oklahoma Christian University.  Located on scenic Route 66, The Mother Road, Edmond has grown into a modern but comfortable suburban community.
Visit www.VisitEdmondOk.com for information about enjoying Edmond.

Oklahoma City – 14 miles
Cowboys and Indians, Oil Barons, State Capitol, Sports Fanatics, Oklahoma City has that and so much more.  Visit Cattlemen’s Steakhouse in the Historic Stockyards for dinner.  Take in the Oklahoma City Memorial and Myriad Botanical Gardens along with Bricktown.  Plan a weekend around the many events held annually in Oklahoma City such as the Festival of Arts and the Affair of the Heart.

There is so much to see and do in OKC, visit www.VisitOKC.com

Also must do…, Pops in Arcadia, Lazy E Arena between Edmond and Guthrie, and Eskimo Joe’s and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

We have to recommend our church.  Life.church is a casual contemporary fellowship of Followers of Christ with many service times including online services. Pastor Craig Groeschel delivers exciting and thought-provoking messages, the music is great, and then we go out and try to make the world a better place. With 25+ campuses and more than 200 Network Churches, Edmond is home to Life.church Central Offices. Our family attends the Life.church/Edmond campus 10 miles south of Arcadian Getaways on I-35 at 2nd Street exit.
